Here is my first ever attempt to write a football match report, so ladies... and gents, apologize If it is a bit crap, or forgot any vital part of the game! Wearing my contacts didn’t help much either as I couldn’t really see much, maybe this explains my bad performance on the pitch - Good excuse hey :o) Anyway, a bit tricky to write up a report for the first loss after 7 wins, but I will try my best.

Here it comes.

After a reasonable warm-up, a few attacking drills and Amrik’s pre-match talk, we went on the pitch ready for battle. Despite starting the first half with the disadvantage of the wind towards us + Morden wearing our spare kit,BA started off well, trying to get comfortable with the opposition, keeping control over the ball. Although some slight confusion caused by changes in our formation, a few good passes were made forward by Jane and Stacey, some quick runs by Char and great attempts by Harriet up front. Defence stayed calm and tried to stop any attacks by the opposition. Unfortunately Morden used their first chance, dribbled the ball through midfield, sent a quick shot to the left winger who shot from just outside the box!! 1 down. Quick change of positions for BA: Kirsty swapping with Tania, Char switched with Harriet.

Morden soon created another chance for themselves, a long ball sent across, despite the great defending by Preeti, Simone, Petra and Jo, they managed to get another goal, despite Sara’ s fantastic dive and attempt to save - 2-0. After a corner for Morden cleared by our defence, a long ball was sent forward, where Char and Harriet put some great pressure on Morden’s defence... Soon Morden created another opportunity passing quick ball backwards and forwards while a cross met their striker - 3-0 to Morden!

Despite the many undeserved off sides given to BA, we kept our spirit up and put a lot of effort to keep fighting.

2nd Half - Some changes in the formation, all back to normal - Nav comes on as LM, Char and Jane went up front , Harriet went midfield. Everybody started full of team spirit; a lot of passing, defending really well. It seems the team started linking together again. Forwards pushed up and some fantastic runs were made by Char looking for Harriet and Jane in the box. Soon after Nav passed to Stacey, Stacey looks for Harriet and yeah goal for BA. 3-1.

While Morden were getting worn out, it seemed Char was full of energy, making every possible chance as a potential threat to their goal. Not long after a great opportunity, while Harriet manages to go through Morden defence, shoots but unfortunately hits goal post. Unlucky H! Pressure continued on Morden, Char pushing up, crosses the ball straight to Nav’s right foot, but unlucky miss. A few chances for Morden but Sarah wouldn’t let anything through.

Soon the second half was over, I think we were unlucky. BA played so well after the break, everyone played with all their heart, gave their best. Defence was solid, midfield was fab, controlling the ball, passing, up front were great - a lot of shooting and passing and once again fantastic saves, great performance from everyone. It was a pleasure to watch. I must say a bit frustrating, but it was classic football. Final score 1-3 to Morden. We could have had at least a draw, but still not bad. Well done to everyone, keep up the good work so we can win the next one!!!!
