After an excellent performance in our first match of 2006 the team came out feeling confident. The line-up was unchanged from the week before except for Belinda replacing Line at Centre Back. We had even been given pitch number one!!

The opposition only had nine players but they started out strong, defending well and making a few runs into our half. Although we had several chances it took us 20 minutes to get a score on the board.

Preeti made a run up the centre and received the ball at the top of the 18 yard box which she struck beautifully and it sailed into the back of the net. 1- 0.

However, Brentford hit back and equalised against the run of play. This really fired up the team and BA found another gear, taking control of the game.

There was some great passes and Stacey and Lou were first to every single loose ball in the mid field - great partnership. Char made a great run up the right hand side and the keeper did well to get her finger tips to the ball as it sailed over her head - but her finger tops were not enough to stop our second goal. 2-1.

Within minutes another great pass ended up at Char's feet who laid off to Livvy in the 18 yard box who then laid off the ball to Nav who coolly slotted it in the back of the net. 3 -1.

Half time 3 - 1

Although another player had joined Brentford they were already looking tired as we kicked off the second half. Within the first 2 minutes Nav ended up in a tussle with one of Brentford's defenders and we were awarded a free-kick 10 metres inside the opposition's half. Char stepped up and struck the ball well, managing to find Nav's feet just metres in front of the goal. 4 - 1.

Brentford were finding it harder and harder to get out of their own half - Belinda and Preeti were doing a sterling job stopping every ball that came their way. The ball was stripped from one of the Brentford team in their own half and Petra got a great pass off to Livvy who took it around the Brentford defence and found herself one on one with the keeper - keeping her composure, Livvy slotted the ball in the back of the net. 5 -1.

More hard work pressuring the Brentford defence and Nav decided that anything Livvy could do she could do better - dribbled passed two defenders and ending up one on one with the keeper ..... straight though the keeper's legs. 6 -1.

Suzie and Kim came on with their fresh legs and Brentford looked even more disheartened. Two more goals followed for Livvy - final score 8 –1.

And we are into the next round of the Middlesex Cup. Great team effort.
