Game: BAWFC v KIKK

Sun shone on us brightly as we set out to equal or beat our last result
against the top of the table - KIKK.
The initial line was changed due to train cancellations, forcing us to use
our subs (yes, had them!) straight away (welcome Kat).
We seemed to start off with a hiss and a roar (possibly due to Char’s power
drink, which was much appreciated/required by one :-0) and took control of
the first 10 minutes where we had possession and a shot at goal. KIKK
retaliated with an easy goal and put the pressure up and used their chances
when they could, not to mention their elbows & shoulders which the Ref
repeatedly pulled them up for. Despite some great corners/ free kicks taken
by Lou & attacks, we just never got it into the back of the net.
Danni & the defence worked hard with good covering from Nav Popadum, but the
half time result left us 4 nil down, with one goal left in puzzlement on how
it actually got over.
At half time and serious discussion (so serious, we didn’t even eat our
oranges) we stepped up the pace (or maybe they slowed down?) and we seemed
to gel and work a lot better.
Despite trying to concentrate on breathing & playing I remember a few
things, including a nice long run from Char thru to Olive which was great
(but denied a result), some more superb shots from Lou at goal not once but
twice hitting the cross bar, Emma often stopping the ball in its tracks and
a (late, but) great tackle from Line.
We kept up our pace and the game ended with us not conceding any more goals. Even though the score was what it was, next time we play them, with a bit
of luck, skill & Char’s power drink, I hope the score will be the other way
round.
