BAWFC 9 Fulham AFC 1

Well the day started off nice and sunny but as 2pm approached the clouds were gathering and so were the crowds, for BAWFC's first league game of the season away to Fulham AFC. Today's game would be our first league game with Gerry's guidance and the talk before kick off was all around working together as a team and keeping our shape. We did a light warm up and stretches and prepared ourselves for kick off.

Referee: Roger, Thanks Roger a sterling performance. Apart from the 55min first half (only joking)

First Half

The game started well we played some lovely football and enjoyed the majority of the possession. The breakthrough came very early into the first half with some good play which ended up with char making a run in from the right wing and scoring with a low shot at the near post. From the spot kick we regained possession and carried on with good momentum, the second goal came from a lovely cross by Katie (if I may say so myself) from the right wing onto Marie's head which she brilliantly headed in with precision and power. 2-0 the first half then continued to tick over we began to sit back slightly giving the impression we were happy with our 2-0 lead and we let them come at us a bit.

Half Time

We gathered together to listen to Gerry's talk in which he mentioned shape a few times, congratulated the wingers (Nav and Char) on some excellent wing play in the first half asked where the midfield were oh and mentioned shape again. We had a drink listened to some more advice and reconvened for the second half.

Second Half

We started the second half again, but didn't manage to match the same performance as the first 15mins of the game, we carried on managing to retain possession and Marie came up trumps again to score her second the teams third with a great right foot strike with the assist coming from Char. Katie came off injured and Gilly replaced her in midfield. The second half also saw Olive replace Alse up front and Lee replace Marie up front. It also saw 6 more goals another from Char, Gilly got 2, and Olive came on and got her first hat-trick of the season. Oh and Fulham managed to pull 1 back at some point.

Overall a good game with a good result but there is still a lot to work on, especially shape

A well deserved player of the match went to Char for another outstanding performance on the right wing.
