Fulham Compton v BAWFC (1 - 2)

Team: "Sviv", Simone, Preeti, Nicole, Mandip, Char, Lou, Nav, Elsa, Marie, Olive.
Subs: Rachael.

The unusually warm weather was a sign that we were going to play a good game, despite some of our players struggling to get to East Sheen on time due to tube closures.

After half an hours drive, we finally made it to the changing rooms and were really impressed by the lavish conditions of the facilities: seedy, muddy changing rooms, disgusting showers and tiny, smelly toilets… Well… you can always use a bush, cant you Mandip? (editors note: no idea what you're talking about)

After a quick warm-up and some instructions from Gerry we were all ready to get at them. Unexpectedly Fulham scored first within the first twenty minutes of the match, but we didn't give up and we started to play as a team. Our efforts were promptly rewarded and 30 minutes into the 1st half Marie scored a wicked goal lobbing the ball over Fulham's keeper -who decided to leave her wig at home this time! This well deserved goal got us playing more comfortably and gave us a few chances to score again -especially a corner, that no-one could convert in to a goal, in the last minute of the first half.

During half-time Gerry encouraged us to keep playing as a team and gave us some instructions to help us beat Fulham Compton.

We started the second half strongly and, in a brilliant play, winger Char crossed the ball in for Marie who, beating two of Fulham's defenders, scored her second goal 20 minutes into the 2nd half.

Now it's the referee's turn. He was definitively a special case… Just before the beginning of the match he asked us to turn over so that he could check our fingers and boots - which I'm pretty sure was just a clever attempt to check out our asses! During the first minutes of the match he ignored a clear penalty in the Fulham penalty box. He must of have thought that we were playing handball not football! He also signalled two questionable off-sides which stopped our striker Olive from being able to take advantage of both occasions.

Now it's time for the most remarkable incidents of the match. During the first minutes Nav was warned to mind her language:
- "F&*!^%g girl elbowed me in the f&*!^%g stomach… and it f&*!^%g hurt"… (editors note: Sorry had to adjust your use of the English language)

It seems she learnt that "F" word from Watford the Sunday earlier!

Also, a couple of our defenders decided to have a lie down on the pitch for a bit after a few similar bumps occurred. Mandy and Preeti were still probably feeling hungover from Friday night… or maybe they just wanted to sunbathe on a lovely day and top up their tans!

Fulham Compton players were quite rough and they were constantly punching and elbowing us. One of them elbowed Elsa's breast:
- "Be careful, you just elbowed my boob!" (Elsa)
- "You be careful, you have been doing that for the whole match!" (No. 8 -from South America)
Yeah right… she wishes I had touched her boobs…
Lou tried to calm the situation down despite not having understood a single word of the conversation had in Spanish.

With the second half almost over we were still keeping our advantage. "Come on BA!! Only two more minutes!!" -shouted Gerry. Those 2 minutes were the longest 2 minutes ever… probably because we still had 10 more minutes left to play!?

Another victory for us and only 3 points behind the 2nd placed team. That night everyone "was so happy that they beat Fulham Compton." -the Facebook profiles proved it!
