BAWFC were looking forward to a fresh start in a new league, new season and against a newly formed team; we didn’t know what to expect from Mr Chin’s team. Some familiar faces amongst the opposition, and BAWFC were determined to start the season off with a flying start.

A slightly nervous start to the game for BA with Natasha Bajwa having to pull off a one-on-one save in the first 5 minutes. The nerves were quickly overcome with chance after chance on goal for the BA attack. The goal came early on in the game after Liz Foster was fouled outside the box. A free kick taken by Liz had the Victoire keeper wrong-footed and found the back of the net. 1nil BAWFC! The rest of the half showed the same pattern with numerous opportunities on goal, but BA missing out on a final touch to stretch their lead.

The team went into half time 1nil up and upbeat about a good half performance. The opposition seemed pretty disillusioned and even an upbeat Mr Chin did not seem be able to motivate his players.

The second half followed the same pattern with chances being missed and us making it easy for the fiery Victoire keeper. But still some impressive attack play was pleasing to see. BA almost lost the lead late in the 2nd half but keeper Natasha Bajwa kept them in it with 2 fine saves which denied Victoire from equalising.

The defence were hardly stretched in a game that saw BAWFC dominant and create a host of chances. A confident and impressive start to the season that saw us get 3 points. And a Victoire team being less than victorious….
