Here goes.....
BAWFC Reserves v Kent Magpies Reserves Sunday 22nd October 2006
We all knew the return leg against the Kent Magpies Reserves was going to be a tough one.. what Magpies surely didn't count on was the BA Reserves fight.... and boy did we fight!
With a few experienced players entering the team, the outlook looked promising. Although we were missing our regular goalie, Julia, Annita willingly stepped up from centre back, and gave it a great go. Thanks again Annita!
The first half saw the Magpies all over us, as well as the rain, and saw them pile on a load of goals. The half time talk saw a bit of fire from some of our players, with a few positional changes, and the final words being, get in front, go for the ball, and lets show them what we can do!
With Sarah in her usual position of right back, she chased (and generally won) anything that came her way. Suzy and Cindy in centre back took our goal kicks, and got their bodies in front of the gaol, and prevented so many in the second half. Bin rounded out the back line, and she constantly chased and put in some great tackles.
Laura, playing her first game for BA, chased everything up and down the left wing and put in some great tackles. Well done Laura! With Lee in centre mid chasing back and forward, and Alisse constantly pressing thier backs, it wasn't long before we were putting pressure on their keeper. Alisse never stopped chasing, and after the same player putting in 2 nasty tackles against her,the player was asked to leave the pitch. This made the BA Reserves even more feisty and fight even harder! With Vicky rounding out the mid field, and chasing along with the centres, and Karen and Kiran up front, we ran and ran and ran, until that final whistle blew. With congratulations from the Magpies coach and ref, we walked off the pitch with our heads held high, and a certain sense of pride. With Jane's first half efforts, as well as Pat and Jo yelling at us from the sidelines, it was a fantastic team effort.
Well done BA Reserves. You have shown what we really can do!!
