We battled with wind, rain and lots of mud and the pitch was soggy, but no excuses the girls were ready to go.
The first 10-15 minutes saw BA play the best football of the entire match. The opponents were weary and shocked, our midfield were doing a good job of moving the ball around, we were attacking at every chance and their coach was screaming out, " watch the runners" Kim, Lucy, Marie and Karen. This pressure awarded us with an indirect free kick which Kim beautifully scored just for the referee to cancel. At the back we were trying to clear the ball as much as we could but after the first goal, we lost our shape and there were 4 more scored against.
At half time we listened as Roger urged us to go win the second half, we are better than this he said, a few changes saw Karen moved to midfield and Cherelle on for Lucy.
We begun the second half pressurizing the opposition as we had in the first, our forwards were pushing as hard as they could but we couldn't put off their centre back who put the ball in the back of the net twice.
And so 90 minutes were up, we had lost the match but not the spirit we held hands, had a chat about the game and headed off to the pub around the corner.
Well done to all the girls who took part in not very pleasant conditions! Good luck to us for our next matches.
Sincere thanks to our lovely supporters, Karen and Roger for the tea.
