The day started off with some of BA women's football club trekking across London. The reserve team was boosted by the amazing singing voice of Amy Oliver. The team entertained the crowd with renditions of xmas songs that even resulted in a suggestion of an x-factor audition (OK, so that suggestion was from Jane)

Upon arrival at the ground, the team changed quickly under the strict instructions of Jay 'I need a thorough warming-up before action' Badhan. Jay was last out of the changing room! Sgt major petra led the team through a military training session (oh i mean a warm-up)!

The first half:
BA had all the early pressure and Lucy showed the stamina of an Ox running up and down the line with vigour. BA were unlucky to concede 3 early goals, but captain resiliant Carina rallied her troops and BA decided Enfield were successfully lulled into a false sense of security. Ex-model-turned footballer Karen Gibson played the ball of the match through to Jay 'I lie about my squash exploits' Badhan. jay was unlucky not to convert her chance, but BA sustained the pressure. Sgt major petra struck some wikid corners, but Amy Oliver couldn't convert them. Su Ronaldo played through a quality flick, unfortunately, it was so good that it fooled her team-mates as well as their defence. Towards the end of the half, Mandip (whose England match was called off today) got more involved in the game and linked well with Zoe 'my impressions of the opposition were so good that some are concerned that I'm a spy'. BA could have been 4-0 down if it weren't for the excellent tracking and verbal skills of Jo 'Voice of god' Santa-Maria. BA were also eternally grateful to Jane Shilton who clearly inherited her father's goal-keeping abilities.

Half-time:
Matt gathered the team at half time and gave them his words of wisdom. The girls listened intently and ran onto the pitch focussed on keeping a clean sheet and scoring a goal.

Second Half:
BA took no prisoners in this half. Wingers: sgt major petra and lucy continually caused their fullbacks problems. Team hottie Karen challenged number 16 and successfully robbed the ball. When the pressure was on, great-arse Karen was lucky not to concede a penalty. Amy Oliver mis-understood England-international Mandip's pass and the least attractive member of their team got the ball. Amy Oliver tracked back, determined not to let someone so unattractive score - mission accomplished! Both Su Ronaldo and Jay ' I can't stop winking at Amy-Oliver despite the fact that she is out of my league' Badhan both had chances to get the elusive BA goal, but their keeper kept them in the game. Jo 'voice of god', Zoe 'my impressions rock' and Sgt Major Petra played some very sexy football down the left wing, but BA just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net.

Then... one of the opposition broke through towards the BA goal after captain-fantastic Carina lost her footing in the cow field (i mean pitch). Their player was in acres of space, looked up, picked her spot and shot... the team of BA 'Babes' (Sgt Major Petra's words) drew their breath as Jane Shilton lept across her goal and parried the ball away...

BA kept their clean sheet in the second half, but couldn't get the elusive goal they deserved. They made their coach, injured captain and crowd of 2000 (ok 2!) proud and can rest-assured they are a much better-looking team than the opposition!
