The BA Reserves came in full force to face the London Japanese Ladies on a lovely hot Saturday in...October! We had the line up as mentioned above and our manager Nav who helped lead us to a comfortable win. And a big thanks to everyone that came along to support us.
First half: We had a great start, BA centre mids and strikers gave the Japanese defence a good BA Reserves welcome! We kept most of the ball possession...and our defence on the other hand was left unchallenged...we were pretty much sun bathing in October! (not that I'm complaining). Kim, Tasha, Rachel and Anna showed great ball control and passed well...it didn't take long for the first goal, Tasha made sure of that...goal number 1...and we were off to a great start. Lucy did well dominating the right wing (she even came over to say Hi on the left wing) and taking every opportunity to get the ball to the Tasha and Rachel, who were just as eager to get the ball in the back of the net...as Rachel illustrated with goal number 2.
Elsa on the opposite wing dealt with all the crosses and passes into the box creating ample opportunities. Kim and Anna took care of the centre making runs and winning the ball. But Petra wanted in on the action and she did!...she gave BA goal number 3.
The London Japanese Ladies tried their best to wake up the BA defence and keeper Jane from sun bathing but Chev, Lisa and Jane (with her vocal ability) took care of business. However the Japanese Ladies did manage to get past the defence and get one at the back of the BA net.
But the Japanese ladies goal was short lived as Lucy, Chev x2 and Gilly struck back one after another with goal numbers: 4, 5,6,7!! End of first half: BA 7 - LJL 1
Second half: BA was beaming with confidence and off to a great start with Rachel providing BA with goal number 8....within minutes of the second half! We controlled the ball well and many of the challenges were won by Kim, Lisa and Chev who worked hard to keep the ball up front. Tasha took advantage of this and gave the LJL's defence a workout...scoring goals 9 and 10(hat trick!) Ebi dealt with the right wing challenging and smacking balls across into the box at ever chance she got!
Although the LJL's weren't ready to hang their footie boots...they came back with a few good runs through our defence and managed to get it past Jane - and the goal post felt her frustration as she head butted it! The LJL's were feeling confident and took every opportunity to win the ball and make the runs towards Jane but Emily, Chev and Lynsie weren't having any of it and kept the goal post safe from further head butts!
BA took control once again and played the ball up front and made good use of space and players to create another goal from way outside the box giving Chev her hat trick!....goal number 11.
But the LJL's still had Jane and the back of the BA net in their sights and got their goal third and fourth goals! But Rachel wasn't having any of it and demanded her hat trick....which she got!....as she whizzed past the LJL's defence....and gave BA goal number 12.
It was a great match giving BA Reserves a 12 - 4 victory.
Well done to Emily and Rachel who played their first game with us!
